Keeping In Mind Our Mother Language

Every person has a language he used to speak and this serves as an identity on what part of the country he's living. The first language that a person learns and the language used in that person's home country- mother tongue.

Philippines have 7107 scattered islands and composed of different tribes who are living here and it was divided into 16 regions where in every region has its own dialect. Many skills acquired in the first language can be transferred to the second language. So, for example, if we have developed good reading skills in Ilocano, we are likely to be able to apply these skills when reading English. For some students, developing mother tongue proficiency is easier because they have lessons each week in their native language. For students who are not in this fortunate position, there is still much that can be done to maintain the mother tongue. For example, parents can make sure that they have good reference books or textbooks at home - in the native language. Students should be encouraged to read good literature and to discuss school work. Some of the long summer vacation could be devoted to mother-tongue learning and reading.

A revival of interest to using a mother tongue is stipulated by necessity to improve language accuracy, fluency and clarity. Our mother should be keep in mind by us in order to have unity in the place where we belong.

It's Christmas Again!!!

Cold breeze lingers on my skin. Christmas tree, Christmas lights, and Christmas decorations in every home. “Jingle bells, Jingle bells, Jingle all the way…” The carolers sing! Oh! I could feel it, it’s Christmas again.

Christmas, the birth of our savior Jesus Christ. It is the happiest season of the year. Exchanging gifts and cards, giving ‘Aguinaldos’ to the carolers and to the children but it’s not the material things which matter, it’s the joy they bring to the people whom they share their blessings with. Christmas is the time of the year, it is the time of giving/ sharing, loving, forgiving and forgetting everyone’s sin to us as Jesus Forgives our sins, these are the things which couldn’t be touch but could be feel by our hearts and these makes-up the true essence of Christmas. In the midst of the celebration of the Noche Buena, there are people who just prepare simple one. Just to feel the essence of Christmas and to thank God for all the blessings He’ve been showering us in our everyday lives.

We should be touch by the true meaning of Christmas, not just by the gifts we receive but for the happiness, joy and love that can be felt by our hearts.

Equal Rights... Equal Opportunities...

          We are all equally created by God. Equal rights, equal opportunities. Is this phrase true to all of us?
           Before, the work of a man couldn't be done by a woman or vice versa maybe because of their culture but now it;s different, the work of a man can be doneby a woman already because of the new world surrounded by high technology. Gender awareness- this is now the new shout of men and women. We were born with our rights, grows up having different opportunities in life so we must cease it. Poor or rich, in justice, money should not be the one to manifest one's rights, the person in the power should weigh the case equally without any bias for the one in a straight path and continue to take opportunities in life. Discrimination- a word that should not exist between all of us human fot we have our own will in life, equal state in the eyes of God and we're the ones who knows our own rights.
            Rich. poor, men and women, there should be no discrimination. We are all created by God with equal rights and equal opportunities. We are the ones who are making our own avenir.

What Difference Can We Make?

Difference is part of our lives. Permanent is the change itself.

In many years of my existence, I noticed the things which had changed in our surroundings. Before, typhoon/ storm was just normal but now? Typhoon is a word which everyone is afraid of upon hearing, what's on the mind of people are floods, landslides , property destruction and even lost of lives. Before, fresh and clean air we breath but now, pollution spread and hot temperature is what we feel now. We, the people were the ones responsible for the things which had changed in our surroundings, because of our irresponsible acts we've done- massive cutting down of trees in the mountains, burning plastics, and improper waste disposal. It's now the right time for us to make the right moves. We should be responsible already in fixing what we have ruined in the name of Mother Nature. Use 3 R-Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, separate bio and non- biodegradable waste and plant trees for us to replace the trees which have been cut by the elders. Plant a tree today, Save the Earth tomorrow.

There are many waste to make difference. We're not the ones whose gonna suffer on the things we do today instead, the future generation will be the one to suffer, so, let's now move to save the earth.

EXTREME CHANGE

Disastrous phenomena strike our world badly.

Nowadays, the world experiences extraordinary catastrophes. We, the people and our irresponsible acts are the main reason why our world experiences extreme change! Global Warming is the result of massive illegal cutting down of trees, burning of plastics, using products made up by high technology, improper disposal of garbages which result to pollution and the rapid population growth. All of these contribute to the ruining of the ozone layer which protects us from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun and these results to the abnormal increase of the temperature called global warming. Sea level rises, ice bergs in the North and South Pole are melting, and we, the people experiences extreme heat which sometimes causes death. It seems like nature revenge us for the things we’ve done into it. Storms cause landslides because of the heavy rain pour because no more trees that would zip the rain water, floods because of the improper waste disposal, storm surge and very strong wind that could ruin one’s home. And even in the middle of summer we experience typhoons, we wonder why this happens before but now? We all know that this is caused by Climate change. We are the ones who are responsible for it.

People should turn a new leaf, we should be responsible already, care for our own land, care for the future generation, use 3 R’s and plant a tree today, save the Earth tomorrow.

My Reflection(Second Gradimg)

Every end has a new beginning. First grading was done, second grading comes after it. I have many things that have learned this grading period.

This quarter is more exciting than the past because we focused on tags. We used the notepad for our hands–on activities. We knew about the two types of tags, the stand-alone tag and the container tag. In applying each tag, we should be very careful so that the effect we wanted to see in our text would be powerful. I enjoyed our hands-on activities because I know that I did all the activities given to us with all my effort and thank God I finished all of them on time.

On the cleaning matter, my group mates were all responsible and cooperative when our time comes in cleaning the computer room. No one created bad record this time. I hope that they will not change their attitudes as time passes by. I, as a leader will always be a good follower of them even though my partner, Mourice Purugganan already left us.

I could say that I understood all the lessons given to us this quarter that’s why I’ll not forget about tags for me to apply in my future needs. I would strive harder this time.

Promoting Digital Literacy Through English Proficiency

Now we are living in modern world wherein manual works are out of the new. We are surrounded by high tech things already which can we call as a short cut way on doing things in life but are these high tech things a friend or a foe?

English, as we all know, is our Universal Language. It is being use by us in communicating to other people living in other countries. High tech things are being use by us humans which makes our works easier and faster. Students like me, usually surfs the net to gather some pieces of information regarding our studies, in this way, we are training ourselves to be proficient in English because the computer programs are in English language. Computer which is connected with internet is very useful because all the reference materials which are manually used are all compiled here, all we gonna do only is to type what we are looking for and at a glance, the computer will show us what we are looking for. In this way, more things about English are being known by us but if we abuse what computer could do nothing good will happen to us.

We should use digital literacy through English proficiency in order for us to gain more knowledge. We should use our English skills in digital literacy in right way for us to move forward and for us to lift up ourselves.
